PLANO, Texas – January 25, 2011 -- Interphase Corporation (NASDAQ: INPH), a leading global provider of solutions for converged communications networks, announces a live Long Term Evolution (LTE) eNodeB demonstration at the upcoming GSMA Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona. This game-changing collaboration with Mindspeed Technologies, Inc., Continuous Computing®, and Ixia offers a breakthrough for eNodeB application developers seeking to quickly move product to market with industry-leading base station performance.

The Interphase LTE eNodeB module, the single card base station in the demo system, employs Mindspeed®’s Transcede™ system-on-chip (SoC) 3G/4G/LTE baseband processor, which provides superior spectrum efficiency, capacity, and peak data rates with extremely low latency. Mindspeed’s Transcede SoC recently won the 2010 Mobile Excellence Award for Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough. The LTE eNodeB module also includes the award-winning Trillium® LTE software stack from Continuous Computing®, which is currently in multiple LTE field trials globally.
For operators, deployment of compact base stations built on the eNodeB module from Interphase enables them to efficiently meet market demand while providing both CAPEX and OPEX savings over current base station technology, through low power requirements and flexible, compact configuration and space requirements.
The demo system’s evolved packet core (EPC) simulator runs Continuous Computing sample LTE core network emulator (CNE) applications for Mobility Management Entity (MME), Serving Gateway (SGW), and PDN Gateway (PGW) on an Interphase multicore packet processor card.
Both the commercial off the shelf (COTS) hardware and pre-integrated software elements of the solution are designed to speed development of LTE base stations that scale economically from femto and pico to macrocell system designs.
In addition to the Interphase LTE demo system, the live demonstration is supported by Ixia’s powerful IxCatapult user equipment (UE) emulation that generates the multiplay traffic for the demonstration and for lab development work.
