Interphase Delivers RoHS-Compliant Product Portfolio
PLANO, Texas -- January 10, 2006 -- Interphase Corporation (NASDAQ: INPH), a leading international supplier of next-generation networking technologies, today announced that the company will deliver a comprehensive RoHS-compliant product portfolio ahead of the July 2006 deadline, conforming with the European Union’s (EU) Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) directive. The compliant products are currently being delivered to customers for early testing and integration to ensure ease and timeliness of deployment.
The RoHS Directive prohibits new electrical and electronic equipment from being placed on the market after July 1, 2006, if they contain higher than specified levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.
Interphase began RoHS initiatives very early in the cycle, shipping its first RoHS-compliant product in April 2005. The company’s aggressive timetable has enabled Interphase to work very closely with its customers to deliver products that are either fully compliant or have a customized compliance based on telecommunications exemptions.
Although initiated by the EU, similar directives are also being adopted in various other countries, primarily in the Asia/Pacific region.
"Interphase is committed to building environmentally-friendly products and in helping our customers meet and exceed these directives," said Greg Kalush, president and chief executive officer of Interphase Corporation. "I’m proud to be ahead of the game, as our engineering and manufacturing teams rapidly developed the necessary expertise and infrastructure to enable us to deliver products per the RoHS requirements."
All Interphase AdvancedMC solutions for deployment in AdvancedTCA platforms are designed for RoHS compliance. For further information about current Interphase CompactPCI, PCI and PMC product pricing, availability and RoHS compliance, please contact your Interphase Regional Sales Manager.
